Job Description
The Saratoga Automobile Museum (SAM), an independent, 501(c)3 museum in Saratoga Springs, New York, seeks a talented leader to serve as Executive Director and work with the board
of trustees and staff to advance the museum's mission to preserve, interpret and exhibit automobiles and automotive artifacts. SAM offers the community and its visitors a variety
of permanent and temporary exhibits, outdoor shows, workshops, interactive displays, lectures, and other educational programs and events designed to enhance an understanding and
appreciation of the role of the automobile in New York State and in the wider world. In addition to technical and design aspects, our educational focus is on the past, present and
future social and economic impact of the automobile. Located in Saratoga Spa State Park in the renovated former Saratoga Bottling Plant, the Saratoga Automobile Museum first
opened to the public in 2002. The museum is chartered by the Board of Regents of the State of New York Department of Education.
Job Requirements
The next Executive Director of the Saratoga Springs Automobile Museum will have an excellent opportunity to develop a vision for the future of the Museum. Reporting to the Board
of Trustees, s/he will provide strategic direction and management of the organization and lead a small staff and a group of committed volunteers to achieve the museum's
objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior-level museum administrative duties including fiscal management, fundraising, grant-writing, and project management,
as well as marketing, public relations and strategic planning. Demonstrated knowledge of standards and practices within the museum profession and principles of not-for-profit
management is essential. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and a minimum five years of experience as a leader of a museum or similar not-for-profit organization
demonstrating progressive responsibilities and a track record of success. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required, along with the ability to effectively
represent the museum in the community and to a variety of constituencies. Experience with small museums and knowledge of/enthusiasm for the automotive hobby and transportation

Executive Director - Seal Cove Auto Museum

Seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Executive Director of the Seal Cove Auto Museum. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, multifaceted individual able to articulate the Museum's mission, maintain and develop relationships, supervise a small staff and volunteers, be active in the community, and creatively promote the Museum both as an educational institution, and as America's premiere brass era automobile collection. The Executive Director is a facilitator and exceptional communicator whose passion for the automotive history of America is clearly evident by his or her ability to clearly and enthusiastically champion the Museum and its collections. Curator - Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum
Applicants invited to apply for the full-time salaried position of curator of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum (ACDAM) [accredited by the American Association of Museums], Auburn, Indiana. Responsibilities include administration and growth of object collections and archives as well as the delivery of exhibit related concepts to the general public.
We seek a dynamic curator with a passion to research, develop, maintain and implement exciting exhibitions and academic and community-based programs. Conducts extensive and thorough research on the permanent collection, enters information into the database, presents lectures and provides educational information including didactic materials, docent talks, etc. The curator manages and participates in the development, research, and interpretation of the ACDAM collections and participates in program and exhibition development, as well as other relevant initiatives at ACDAM. The curator practices a high standard of public history using the best scholarship to create broadly accessible programs and products for the diverse audiences served by ACDAM. The curator initiates and maintains advantageous relations with the collector car community, local as well as national and international, including collectors, prospective donors, and the press.
Minimum 4-year degree and 3 years museum or related experience, or a degree in Museum Studies preferred. Attributes include strong people skills, public speaking, integrity, organizational and management, research and teamwork skills at a level expected by a Museum accredited by the American Association of Museums.

Curator of Transportation - The Henry Ford
Housing one of the largest collections of its kind ever assembled, The Henry Ford, located in Dearborn, Michigan, has an unparalleled collection of nearly one million items that includes tens of thousands of ordinary objects, items associated with illustrious Americans, and inventions documenting technological advances.
We are currently seeking a Curator of Transportation for our world-class American transportation collections. Dating from the 17th century to present day, these collections document the range of technologies used to move people and goods - and offer insight into the impact of transportation on people's lives. The Curator manages and participates in the development, research, and interpretation of The Henry Ford's transportation collections and participates in program and exhibition development, as well as other relevant initiatives at The Henry Ford.
The Curator of Transportation develops collecting plans that align strategically with the mission and vision of The Henry Ford. The incumbent maintains a deep and broad understanding of significant American objects, stories, and lives, and practices a high standard of public history using the best scholarship to create broadly accessible programs and products for the diverse audiences served by The Henry Ford.
Minimum five years' professional experience as a curator or serving in a comparable position. Requires knowledge of the History of Transportation and related fields; American social and cultural history with an emphasis on the 20th century; and American material culture. Requires a Bachelor's degree in American History or related field. Must demonstrate knowledge of both American social and cultural history from the 17th century to present, with an emphasis on the 20th century; and the history of technology, with an in-depth knowledge of transportation technology and its social impact. Proven ability to research and interpret American social and cultural history through material culture. Experience in developing, managing, and interpreting museum collections preferred.
